The National Center for Technology Innovation (NCTI) has released a report highlighting several key trends in the field of assistive technology for those with special needs -- and iPrompts® is among those products specifically mentioned in the report.
According to Meris Stansbury of eSchool News, the NCTI report, titled "Unleashing the Power of Innovation for Assistive Technology," comes at a time of great opportunity for both schools and AT providers. The report describes a trend of "convergence" toward one platform capable of providing a variety of assistive technologies -- in other words, devices like iPhones and iPods can and should offer multiple applications to assist those in need of help.
HandHold Adaptive's Founder and CEO Dan Tedesco has recently been featured in interviews with Autism Podcast and WAMC radio, and has also identified the notion of convergence as important to the future of assistive technology. "We firmly believe that mass-market consumer devices like iPods and Blackberries can be leveraged in a variety of different ways to help those affected by special needs. Indeed, this has been and will continue to be our company's mission," Dan said.
